Message from Godin: The tears are starting to flow, yet my mug is full, and I don't want to get the floor messy, so I'll put this into some of your minds to stop it:
Wolfman wants to make piloting fun. Making Piloting fun without making AVing fun would be pointless, as if AV is not fun, then they would just quit, or be forced to do it by their corp and quit, causing the game to lose good players. Wolfman is a smart guy imo, so he probably already knows this.
So, what should he do to make AVing fun? Well, there's many options for him to do. But one is the best, and I assume that he would do just this, or something similar: WP's for hurting and scaring off vehicles.
We used to have such a thing, and it was nice. However, people will abuse anything that is easily abusable as we all know, and CCP doesn't like abusers as we all know, and they eventually put a stop to their fun. That's great and all, but sometimes, it hurts the people who were doing the right thing, and using the mechanics correctly.
So, how could we bring this back without having those abusers abuse it again? Simple, we treat it similar to equipment. Let me explain: every vehicle has a certain amount of eHP that the should be based around, right? SO, what if we gave them a set amount of damage to be taken, and once the said vehicle has taken that much damage (this would include resistances as actual HP), the AV'er would get a vehicle damage award, which should be different depend on the vehicle hull type (a HAV should be worth more attacking than a LAV) Once you get enough of these, say 3-5, it will cap out for a period of time, which during that time, the pilot should escape. Therefore, the AV'er is getting a steady amount of WP's, and the Pilot can actually have a sturdy vehicle if it's built right without screwing over the AV'er's payout. Also what could be added on top of this is a Combat lock out award. What this would do is if the pilot doesn't receive any WP's during a time period, the AV'er get's the reward, but the AV'er could only get one per pilot every 5 or so minutes.
Example: Player A is driving around in a Gunnlogi, merrily killing everything in sight. Player B is sitting on a hill lining up a good shot at Player A. Player B heavily damages Player A, and gets all 3 awards. Player B goes to base to rep for 3 minutes, and Player B receives the Combat lockout award.
Think about it.

I'm not sure about the combat lock out though it's probably not necessary.
Message from Godin: psst. It's called a sweetener. It doesn't need to be there, it just helps them like the idea more, and make them ask for it. |

Message from Godin: Yay! People gets the point of this and agrees with me instead of seeing my name and saying something along the lines of "This is bullshit! I don't want this bullshit, I want to be able to solo and insta pop very vehicle I see!". It makes me happy when people agrees on something, it really does |

Also, in what way is it abusable? Because you could farm WP from tanks? Repair Tools can already farm WP from Heavies, or Nanohives can farm WP from...everyone and Uplinks farm WP. It really depends on the amount and speed that the 'Damage' and 'Denial' WP are awarded.
Damage: if x% of a vehicle's total EHP is dealt by yPlayer in zTimeframe, yPlayer is awarded (#)WP Denial: if vehicle has sustained damage equivalent to 50%/75% of it's total EHP within the last minute/thirty seconds/whatever, users that were awarded Damage WP in that time are awarded Denial points.
Message from Godin: It isn't in this form. It was beofre, where you would get 35 WP's 9I think) per cycle for hurting a vehicle, yet it was infinite. So basically go into a open lobby, and farm WP's.One guy linked a picture showing a 16k WP's game. It was that bad. |

Oxskull Duncarino wrote:Great idea if it can be brought back. I've had plenty of games where the opposition have had great support for their tank with snipers as well as infantry around the tank, and I've had a bunch of thumb suckers on my side. When against a good pilot this mostly ended up with me just harassing the tank for the game, lucky if I die just a few times and maybe occasionally take the tank out.
When the endgame stats show no kills, a few deaths, and few warpoints for 15 minutes of duck and weave, hit and waddle, in a fatsuit, it's disheartening. Some warpoint feedback for keeping tanks on their back foot would go a long way to wanting to do it rather than saying feck it.
Message from Godin: My point again. Thanks |

If you have a message from some arse-hole named Godin, get his arse onto the forums and let him speak for himself. IN REAL LIFE, I have punched people in the face with absolutely zero warning for speaking in third person, which is essentially what you're doing. You are unimaginably irritating, and I wish that you'd just stop. PLEASE. Even when you have cool posts, or intelligent things to say, I find my self not caring. At all. Please knock it the fuq off.

That was me talking. Godin didn't need to ask me to type that, he didn't even know about it. I saw that as I logged on to type again for Godin, and realized what Godin meant by dumbasses on the forums. Now I remember why I hated forums, and why I was glad to stop posting for Godin.

message from Godin: AI weapons would be counted in this; the award should only be for AV weapons. Also, how the hell do you redline swarm? |
